Teenage Romantic Comedies

Our plan was to make a romantic comedy film opening but after watching a few romantic comedies I have realised that most of them are based on an adult love story rather than a teenage one. The actors we are using are teenagers therefore we decided that we must change a few little things in our plan to make it more suitable for teenage actors. I have searched some teen romantic comedies, analysed the openings and watched beginnings of them to see the similarities and differences between the teenage and adult romantic comedies.

The first teenage romantic comedy I have watched was 'Wild Child'
00:00 - Animation
00:19 - Universal Studios logo
00:31 - Working Tile
00:33 - Universal Pictures present
00:40 - In association with StudioCanal
00:45 - A Working Title production
01:31 - Tile

Summary of the movie:  Poppy More is a spoiled teenager living in California with her father Gerry. In a wild prank with all her friends, she ruins and gives away her father's girlfriend's belongings. Her father returns home angrily and informs her that she is going to an English boarding school.

In the opening, very little information is given but while watching the movie we see that it is set around a school therefore I came out with an idea to add clips from the character's schools and show how different they are

Another teenage romantic comedy I have researched was: 'Cinderella Story'
00:00 - Animation
00:11 - Warner Bros. Pictures logo
             A TimeWarner Company
00:18 - Warner Bros. Pictures present
00:26 - A Clifford Werber Production
00:29 - In Association with  Dylan Selleres Productions
00:33 - Name
00:39 - Title

Summary of the movie: At the age of 8, Samantha Montgomery lost her father to an earthquake, having to live in an attic, while her stepmother Fiona and her 2 stepsisters take over her life. It's a modern version of the Cinderella story where a teenage girl goes to school ball where she looses her phone, a boy finds it and tries to find his 'cinderella'. They both live two totally different lives and don't know anything about each other.

The opening shows a big castle with beautiful surroundings from the Cinderella story but then it very quickly changes to a loud, dull, boring city view. We want to use a similar idea in our opening sequence, show two totally different surroundings and the differences in the character's lives.
